The right intent-data workflow for a Google Ads agency starts with a clear distinction: research signals can inform your market understanding, but a purchased contact list is not automatically an eligible advertising audience. Use intent to investigate relevance, then choose a campaign method that fits the data source and Google’s requirements.

MarketPulse helps teams find people researching topics related to their market, apply an ideal customer profile, and review available audience records. Public plans are starting at $500/mo. This guide explains how to evaluate that research alongside your Google Ads work, with a practical brief and current plan comparison.

First, separate research from audience eligibility

Google’s Customer Match policy requires uploaded customer information to have been collected in a first-party context, where customers shared it directly with the advertiser. It also requires appropriate disclosures, consent where applicable, and an approved upload interface.

Buying contact records, hashing them, or transferring them through a connector does not make them first-party customer data. Do not treat a MarketPulse export as a ready-to-upload Customer Match list. Keep the client’s directly collected records and their provenance separate from third-party research.

A person showing topic interest also has not necessarily asked to hear from your client. Research activity is a reason to investigate fit, not proof of permission, purchase readiness, or future revenue.

Choose the role each tool will play

An agency needs several distinct capabilities. Buying more data cannot substitute for a clear offer, a useful destination, or functioning conversion measurement.

Google provides different audience segment options by campaign type. In-market segments, custom segments, and your own data segments are distinct methods. Performance Max audience signals can guide its systems, but do not restrict delivery exclusively to those people.

Check the supported method in the actual account before promising a client a particular audience or targeting behavior.

Research the market in the current BrandWell portal

Open BrandWell, select the appropriate Company Project, and use MarketPulse to investigate the categories that match the client’s offer.

  1. Describe the buyer’s problem. Start with the service or product category the client actually sells.
  2. Search the topic catalog. Inspect the meaning of candidate topics before choosing them.
  3. Apply the ICP. Use the available filters to focus on relevant companies and roles.
  4. Review an audience. Check the records and available contact fields rather than treating the headline count as qualified pipeline.
  5. Record the insight. Write down what the research suggests about the market, the questions to investigate, and the next permitted action.

A broad topic may be useful for market research but too vague for the client’s particular offer. Review examples before committing more topic capacity. Similar topics can contain overlapping people; adding counts together can overstate the unique audience.

Turn the research into a campaign brief

Use the research to form a hypothesis about a problem your client can solve. Build the campaign around a useful offer rather than telling people that you observed their activity.

For an illustrative IT services client, the brief might look like this:

  • Research question: which relevant market categories deserve a closer look?
  • Buyer problem: evaluating how to maintain business systems with limited internal resources.
  • Offer: a clearly scoped consultation with an explanation of the client’s services.
  • Destination: a page showing service scope, geography, proof, and a straightforward next step.
  • Google method: separately approved targeting in the client’s account, using eligible data and supported campaign settings.
  • Business outcome: qualified consultations and opportunities, with spend and attribution recorded.

This is an example brief, not evidence that a specific person needs IT support. Do not invent a private problem for an individual simply because their record appears in a topic audience.

Use RankWell to research related website questions and prepare the supporting content. Review the client’s actual capabilities, case-study permissions, claims, and commercial terms before publishing. AIMEE can assist with authorized preparation tasks; the operator still approves the work.

Compare MarketPulse’s public plans

The following standard monthly prices and allowances reflect the public MarketPulse plans reviewed October 2, 2026. Any eligible early-access offer is separate from these standard rates.

MarketPulse plans are starting at $500/mo. Verify current package scope and offers on the product page.

PlanTopics and refreshesMonthly contact exports
Starter1 topic, weekly25,000
Growth3 topics, daily100,000
Scale10 topics, dailyUnlimited

Each pull retrieves available data from the previous 24 hours for one topic. Using all daily refreshes across every included topic gives 90 Growth pulls or 300 Scale pulls in a 30-day month. Weekly Starter pulls vary by calendar month. Available records and fields vary; export limits and topic capacity are different allowances.

To calculate effective cost per pull, divide the subscription cost by the Intent Scans actually used during the same period. A pull retrieves available data from the previous 24 hours for one topic. Unused allowances increase the effective cost per consumed pull; fields, counts and audience overlap vary.

For the current bundle and connected-product costs, see BrandWell pricing. Keep media spend, implementation, agency labor, and any additional channel usage separate in your client proposal.

Evaluate the workflow before expanding it

A short review can establish whether the topic and ICP produce useful market context. It cannot establish long-term revenue lift by itself. Agree on the evaluation question before changing campaigns.

  1. Check relevance: review records against the client’s actual market and exclusions.
  2. Check usability: confirm the available fields and the action your team can responsibly take.
  3. Check the destination: verify that the campaign page answers the buyer’s question and works on mobile.
  4. Check measurement: distinguish page visits, submitted leads, qualified meetings, opportunities, and purchases.
  5. Check cost: include software, people, media, creative, and measurement work.
  6. Check attribution: separate sourced outcomes from influenced outcomes and simple exposure.

Use a concurrent control where practical. If you change the audience, offer, creative, bid strategy, and destination at once, the result cannot tell you which change caused it. With limited volume, report uncertainty rather than presenting a small difference as a proven improvement.

The first-purchase MarketPulse guarantee permits a refund request within 3 days when no data has been exported and no more than 2 Intent Scans have been made. Review the current guarantee terms before an evaluation; an export-based test is outside those usage conditions.

Package client work around clear deliverables

An agency can offer market research, topic selection, ICP review, approved creative, destination content, and reporting as defined deliverables. Keep each client’s scope and data handling separate. Document what the subscription covers and what your service fee covers.

Do not describe the subscription as an exclusive market feed, a turnkey white-label advertising platform, or an automatic Google Ads integration. Verify any connected workflow in the actual product and account before putting it in a proposal.

A monthly review should answer three practical questions: what did we learn, what action did we take, and what business outcome can we support with evidence?

Common questions

Can we upload purchased intent contacts into Customer Match?

Customer Match requires directly collected first-party customer information. A purchased contact export does not meet that requirement simply because it contains an email address or has been hashed.

Is external intent better than Google’s native audiences?

They serve different research and activation roles. Evaluate the particular workflow and business outcome instead of assuming one universally outperforms the other.

Does MarketPulse identify visitors to the client’s own site?

MarketPulse concerns topic research beyond your site. TrafficID addresses visitor identification on your own website. Neither signal alone proves buying readiness.

Where should we start?

Watch the MarketPulse demo and review plans starting at $500/mo. Choose a relevant topic, inspect its fit, and define how the research will support your client’s next marketing decision.
