Evaluate an intent-data feed or platform by testing whether its evidence, delivery method and permitted uses fit a specific business workflow. Request a relevant sample, define what a usable record means and measure the work needed to reach a qualified outcome. A large row count or long feature list is not enough.
This guide provides an evaluation method and a current MarketPulse example. It does not rank competing products or claim that one architecture suits every team.
Start with the decision the data should improve
Choose one task: researching relevant buyer topics, prioritizing accounts, preparing a sales conversation or informing a campaign brief. Specify the market, geography, ICP, exclusions and person or company fields the task needs.
For a fictional payroll software business, the question could be: “Can we find relevant organizations researching payroll topics and give our sales team enough verified context to investigate them?” That is a more useful pilot question than “how many records can we download?”
Compare delivery models before features
- Raw feed: useful when your team can manage ingestion, field definitions, identity checks, correction and downstream workflows.
- Research workspace: useful when operators need to inspect topics, filter a market and review records before taking action.
- Connected workflow: useful when supported destinations and accountable approvals reduce repetitive operating work.
- Managed delivery: useful when the service scope clearly includes the research, review and reporting your team cannot operate internally.
These are operating models, not quality rankings. A feed can create more work than it removes if no one owns ingestion. A managed service can leave important gaps if the contract does not specify the deliverables and responsibilities.
Request a sample tied to your ICP
Use a defined sample and review it against the same criteria you will use in production. Record the time and filtering needed. Separate missing values from incorrect ones and keep unresolved identity questions visible.
- Topic meaning: the research concept, category boundaries and examples of irrelevant matches.
- Observation time: what each timestamp measures and how it differs from delivery time.
- Identity: whether the evidence relates to a company, person, device or another unit, and how associations are made.
- Coverage: which industries, locations and roles the sample actually includes.
- Fields: available contact details, blanks, duplicates and correction paths.
- Use: what the agreement and destination requirements permit for the planned action.
Do not infer that every contact at an account performed the observed research. Likewise, contact availability does not prove a buying project, budget or permission for every channel.
An original sample scorecard
Suppose a fictional pilot begins with 200 records. After duplicate handling, 180 remain. Of those, 120 meet the team’s ICP, and 90 meet its required field and recency criteria for the proposed research workflow.
The final usable share is 90 divided by 200, or 45% of the original sample. If you instead report 90 divided by 120, or 75%, label that as the share of in-profile records, not the share of the entire sample.
These counts are illustrative, not a MarketPulse result or an industry benchmark. Add separate columns for unknown identity, missing fields, disputed details and excluded records. Do not silently classify an unresolved record as correct.
Test the complete next action
Move a small approved sample through the intended workflow. Confirm the destination receives the expected fields, the operator can review them and failures are visible. Test duplicates, correction and suppression rather than only the successful export.
Give someone ownership of the result. A file arriving in a CRM is a technical delivery event; it is not evidence that a salesperson used it or that it produced revenue.
Track record acceptance, review time, useful context, actions completed and qualified outcomes. Where feasible, retain a comparable group without the new input. Explain differences in fit, timing or treatment instead of attributing every later opportunity to intent data.
Evaluate MarketPulse in the current BrandWell app
MarketPulse plans are starting at $500/mo. Search available research topics, apply your ICP and inspect the matching people and companies before deciding what to do next.

- Starter:one topic with weekly refreshes and 25,000 monthly contact exports.
- Growth:three topics with daily refreshes and 100,000 monthly contact exports.
- Scale:ten topics with daily refreshes and unlimited contact exports.
A pull retrieves available data from the previous 24 hours for one topic. Daily pulls across every included topic provide 90 Growth pulls or 300 Scale pulls in a 30-day month. Audience counts and available fields vary; audiences may overlap.
Growth and Scale include AIMEE for the initial user. AIMEE can assist through configured tools and workflows. Confirm the supported connection, access and action before promising an automated service. Connected products, channel usage and fulfillment can have separate costs.
Client work should have a defined scope and permitted use. A subscription does not automatically provide a rebranded platform, exclusivity or rights to transfer data to every advertising destination.
Calculate cost per usable record and outcome
Include the subscription or data fee, integration, review time, additional channel costs and ongoing maintenance. Keep your cost window consistent with the sample or outcome window.
For another fictional example, a $500 monthly fee plus eight operating hours valued at $50/hour creates $900 in monthly operating cost. If 300 records meet your defined usability criteria during that month, cost is $3 per usable record. If ten qualified opportunities are recorded, dividing the same cost by ten gives $90 per qualified opportunity.
This is a calculation method, not a claim that the data caused those opportunities or a price promise. Separately record the evidence connecting the workflow to the outcome. Do not mix a monthly cost with a lifetime opportunity count.
Review data handling and the agreement
The UK ICO’s data-broker marketing guidance emphasizes source, collection context, age, privacy information and rights handling. It is UK-specific guidance, and the page states that it is under review following legislative changes. Apply the current requirements relevant to your business and intended use.
The FTC’s service-provider security guidance recommends setting security expectations in writing and verifying that providers follow them. Ask how access, transfers, storage, corrections and deletion work for your planned workflow.
Also confirm usage limits, implementation responsibilities, support, renewal, cancellation, portability and what happens to retained data when the agreement ends. Record the approved answer rather than relying on a sales demonstration.
Write a short pilot decision
Summarize the question, sample, usable criteria, exceptions, operator time, cost and observed outcomes. State what remains unknown and what would justify expansion.
A valid decision can be to continue a bounded test, change the topic or ICP, improve the workflow, or stop. The purpose is to find a useful operating fit, not to make every pilot look successful.
Frequently asked questions
Is a raw feed better than a platform?
It depends on the task and your operating capacity. A feed gives you data to manage; a workspace or connected workflow can reduce some work but still needs review and ownership.
Which number should I compare first?
Start with records usable for your defined task, their share of the original sample and the total cost to operate them. Then inspect qualified outcomes with the relevant attribution limits.
Does intent data prove someone will buy?
No. Research activity needs context, fit and follow-up. Treat it as evidence to investigate rather than a guaranteed buying decision.
Where can I review the current MarketPulse offer?
Visit the MarketPulse product page for the demo and current plans, then evaluate a topic and ICP relevant to your market.
